Bettystown House, also historically known as Betaghstown House, is a remarkable manor situated in Bettystown, County Meath, Ireland. Built around 1630 by the Betagh family - whose name remains integral to the identity of the region - the house reflects centuries of architectural evolution and stands as a testament to Ireland’s rich historical narrative.

The property’s journey through time has not been without turmoil. During the Cromwellian conquest of Ireland in 1649, the Betagh family lost ownership of the estate. Despite this upheaval, the house has retained much of its original 17th-century charm, including its steeply pitched slate roof and iconic red brick chimneystacks - hallmarks of the period’s design.

In the late 18th century, the windows were enlarged to embrace the elegance and symmetry of Georgian architecture. The 19th century brought further enhancements, including a striking canted bay window and a unique five-sided entrance porch, enriching the house’s overall aesthetic.

For much of its existence, Bettystown House served as a private residence. In 1954, it was acquired by the Allen family, who lovingly maintained the property for nearly seven decades. During their stewardship, the house was updated to meet the needs of modern living while preserving its timeless style.

In 2022, the estate entered a new chapter under the ownership of the Ryan family, known for their culinary ventures at TRIBE Restaurant in Duleek. Their vision includes restoring Bettystown House’s historic grandeur while introducing modern amenities, blending heritage with hospitality.
